I recently took my daughter to Disneyland. The overall trip was phenomenal. She’s 7 years old and loves the rides, the magic, and the “princessness” of it all. But there is one part of the trip that will stand out for both of us for a long, long time. We crossed over to California Adventure one day and we decided to do the Incredibles rollercoaster. If you haven’t ridden this rollercoaster, it starts off like a rocket – super fast. Then, it takes you straight down and for a loop de loop. It’s intense. My daughter’s face was one of sheer terror. I told her as loud as I could to hang on and it would be ok.

Life sometimes feels like a rollercoaster. You think you are through the worst of it – then comes an unexpected loop de loop. Then a downhill. Then a sideways corkscrew. And you just want to get off the ride, but you can’t. You have to make it through.

If you’ve been through this kind of season, you’ll likely have strong sympathy for other people who are hanging on for dear life. And if you’re a gift person, you’re probably wondering what many of us have – what do you get for someone who is in a difficult season? Here are our suggestions.
