My 7-year-old daughter doesn’t like sweets. No candy, no chocolates, cake, or pie. So, my husband and I have always had to be creative when it comes to stocking stuffers. Whether your kiddos or loved ones don’t care for candy, or you’re just tired of doing the same old thing, here are a few stocking stuffer ideas that are sure to bring excitement on Christmas morning.
1. Handmade Soaps
There are, probably literally, a million possibilities in the soap category. I once bought my daughter a soap with a mermaid inside. And for my mom, who loves the ocean, I bought one that looked like a wave. For a friend who is a self-educated astronomer, I bought one that looks like planets in space.

2. Lip balm

4. Fun socks
Let’s be clear. If you don’t do this right, gifting socks can be a total bust. But, if you get fun socks that are great for the person you’re gifting, these can be one of the most memorable gifts of the holidays. One year, we got our daughter unicorn socks with 3-D wings on the back. She now calls these her “fast socks” because they make her fly. I’d say that was a home run. 5. Pens or Pencils

For kids, having a pencil or pen with a fun top or design can make it more fun to do homework, write stories, etc. To make it even more memorable, you could add a note saying what this pencil or pen can be used for. For my 7-year-old, I could get her a pencil with a fairy on it and write her a note telling her I love how lively her imagination is and that she can use this pencil to create stories that are uniquely hers to tell. Adding a note with the pencil or pen is a great way to add words of affirmation with your gift.
Stockings don’t have to be an afterthought. With a little planning, the gifts in stockings can be full of meaningful and empowering gifts that delight your spouse or little one.
