beHYGGE: Our New Gift Box Defined

If you aren’t as hip as our social media manager, Jacquelyn, you may be very confused by the name of our new box, beHYGGE. Did we misspell beHUGGY? Is it an acronym? Maybe some kind of fuzzy creature we haven’t heard of? Honestly, most of our team felt this same level of confusion when we heard the name.

Our beCAUSE minded team was working on a new box for fall. We tried to think of all the things we love about fall: the cooler weather, getting back into a routine, pumpkin spice, etc. What’s the name for this “fall feeling?” Jacquelyn introduced the idea of beHYGGE. She is by far the most in touch with the current culture. Noraliz and I raised our eyebrows. We aren’t what you would call “in-touch” on some things. We had missed the social media buzz around this word. In fact, we hadn’t heard of it at all (don’t judge us, lol!). The more Jacquelyn explained, the more we felt the word “hygge” embodied exactly what this gift box is all about!

Here’s what Merriam-Webster says hygge means:
Hygge: noun
A cozy quality that makes a person feel content and comfortable.

Noraliz and I were nervous about naming our newest gift box something that many people wouldn’t understand. We thought about it for over a month. Ultimately, we felt the name just fit so perfectly! I mean – what would be better for personal or corporate gifts than “a cozy quality that makes a person feel content and comfortable?” It summed up so perfectly how we wanted this gift box to make people feel. If it included something about a pumpkin spice latte, it would embody all our favorite things about fall. So, we’re going for it. We’re all in on this strangely perfect word.
