I am a super logistical person. I’m not sure if it’s a gift or a curse that I pretty much turn every interaction into a to do list, but it’s who I am at my core. And when it comes to showing my friends, family members, and employees love and appreciation, I want to be as efficient with my time and money as I can. Part of the way to ensure my personal and corporate gifts hit their target is to focus on speaking the recipient’s native love language.

In case you are unfamiliar with the concept of love languages; people give and receive love in different ways and sometimes if you’re showing your love in a way that isn’t the other person’s primary love language, then they may not be understanding your gesture.

In today’s blog, we are going to give you some gift ideas for the person who values physical touch. If your co-worker is always giving you a handshake, pat on the back, or side hug, it’s likely that their primary love language is physical touch. For your partner, they could speak physical touch when they ask you to sit next to them on the couch or reach for your hand on the sidewalk.

If this sounds like your friend, co-worker, or partner, here are some gift ideas that may be helpful!

Gift Ideas for Those Who Value Physical Touch1. Our beCOZY gift box is great for a snuggly night in. This soft cotton blanket is large enough for two. This gift box pairs well with movie night or wine…just be careful not to spill.

2. A poster or sticker showing a high five. Explain that you aren’t always physically there when they are killing it at work, but you’d like them to know they deserve all the high fives! This is a fun way to incorporate high fives, which are generally an acceptable physical touch, at work.

Gift Ideas for Those Who Value Physical Touch3. A leg or back massage with Muscle Release Oil is a great way to help connect with your partner and help them feel better physically at the same time! This muscle release oil is great for athletes, and anyone who experiences muscle tightness.

4. A super soft sweater or jacket. We’ve found in our non-scientific case studies that many people who speak the language of physical touch also enjoy soft textures. They often comment on how soft a jacket or blanket is. So, focus on soft fabrics when buying them clothing or textiles.

Gift Ideas for Those Who Value Physical Touch5. Our Hammock Swing is perfect for putting folks in close contact in the most carefree way. Set this up in a wooded area or in your own backyard – it works anywhere you want to feel more connected to your partner!

A quick note on this love language – you always want to make sure the physical touch is invited. You would never want to cross any lines that would make someone uncomfortable or place you in HR’s office at work. I mean, we can’t think of a time massaging your boss’ legs with the muscle release oil would be ok.

As with many love languages, the best gifts are often free. Finding ways to work in a hug (when appropriate), high five, handshake, or hand holding can help you connect with your partner or friend who speaks the language of physical touch.

We’re curious. What is your love language? Tell us in the comments below!
